Recently along with some class mates I got the chance to create some environment art in the style of Rare's new game Sea Of Thieves as part of our Games Art MA at Escape Studios. I wanted to share the final results of the project up here. There were 5 of us working on the collaborative project over 8 weeks. Was a really fun project and I learnt loads. Plus it was my first time working stylised!
My personal contribution to the project was in creating boardwalk assets, cave set dressing and lighting with one of my team mates. We are all Masters students graduating this September from the MA Games Art course at Escape studios in the UK.
I will hopefully be updating this post next week with some video.
For now though please take a look and throw up some C&C. Thanks! The specific assets I worked on will be in the reply below. Artstation Link
Thanks Klawd. The night renders are my favourite too. With the timeline we had I was hesitant to spend time on the night scene as well but my team mate Juriaan (Can find him linked on the artstation) took out half a day and whipped up 70% of it in an afternoon like magic. Am so happy we have it now.
You're right... that night lighting IS awesome! Now get the day lighting awesome as well. The darks, like the underside of that shack, are way too dark and the horizon is way too overexposed (it shouldn't be white at all!).
I saw the Gameplay by some game YouTuber's and the game looked awesome. Really happy to see the breakdown of how the assets were created and it looks awesome with a very nice art style ...
