polygon fill often misses or paint incorrectly, what to do?

Is it me or is Substance Painter polygon fill painting isn't quite responsive?

I zoom all the way to the polygon and click on the dead centre of a triangle, it often doesn't register, or worse, paint a triangle on other side of the mesh.

If you paint by mouse drag (draws a rectangle on screen) and it follows the Maya rule of selecting and painting triangles on the back as well.

Is there anything I can do to make my polygon painting life easier? Or am I using the tool wrong (aka there are better ways to painting polygons)?

I find it easiest in those situations to polygon fill using the UVs instead of the mesh. If you have to mask many sections consider baking a color ID map!

Yeah I should consider cutting my UV shell into smaller chucks.

As for ID map (color selection), maybe I am not baking them right? They are always a bit blurry between sections, I have to mess with the sliders to try to fill a section properly.
