Hi. As my animations didn't look as I wished and some people adviced me to try to go back to basics, I thought that it might be a good idea and did 3 standard animations - soccer ball, heavy ball and ball with a tail. Do you think I can move futher to more complicated things?
A friend of mine gave me very detailed feedback on my animations and I decided to update them here as well. Maybe someone will find this progress helpfull. That's how it looks now. As always, any thoughts appreciated.
I left some notes and tried to be precise with the critique... The biggest issue is, it looks like you got into the ball with the tail first, and were fresh on the animation principles, but when you got to the other two, you started losing principles here and there... With any animation, there is a tinge of squash and stretch, hence why it's a principle of animation. With your heavy ball and soccer ball, you lost all squashing and stretching and the arcs could be better. If you just have a ball dropping without those principles, you might as well just put the ball at the top of the scene, put gravity in maya and let it animate for you

Second one, I would have the ball roll more before coming to a stop.
Third one, I would have more squash on f11.
f57, I would push more so there is more of a squash and settle. A little bounce.
Overall, your stuff is solid, I think you can move on.
Here's an updated version with your suggestions regarding ball with a tail and I think that it indeed looks better!
Cheers!
