This is my new script !!!
This is part of a bigger script pack for making modeling in Maya easy and comfortable.
currently it only has live Boolean + auto merge-beta as bonus !
But there will be more tools added soon as update

its exactly what it is in the video, its pretty much automatic.
right after you apply it to a mesh it will add a new parameter for you , so you can control the distance at which the merging will happen, increasing it can speed up your work as you don't need to place the edges/faces very close to each other just move them a bit toward each other and they will merge together.
