Got a project started today-- I have a nice long weekend for the holiday to put some time in. My intent will be to push the style away from Miura's style and into something else-- main ref is the Black Swordsman armor. Other influences: Joe Madd, Art of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Art of Bloodborne..We'll see what this turns into. For now, just having fun w/ the block-out. Critique is welcome.
Looks like a super stat! The overall proportions look correct/real. Perhaps if you are going for the character the measurement could be a bit more cartoony. Heae smaller and legs less thick and a little longer. Great start!
Thank you @kanga! Yeah, definitely will be adjusting those proportions-- smaller head and longer/skinnier legs sound good! I also wanna make his torso and arms a bit more beefy than they are right now-- I'm going to do an over-all adjustment in Zbrush once I've got his parts blocked in.. A little more progress tonight
Thanks, that helps me understand your goals better. Edit the first post with this! Your neck looks a little short. Or maybe the face is far forward. Either way he has a hunched gesture that doesn't tell me he's heroic like the reference images. The big traps and muscles are fine but i think his chin should his his clavicle, but it's at the edge of his pec right now. @Dudestein knows more about anatomy/gesture than i though so maybe he can chime in on that
@Caiterade Good call! Will address the chin to clavicle.
@Dudestein Thank you for the feedback!-- These are areas that I struggle with, so those issues will be addressed!-- Definitely want solid anatomy under the armor. And don't worry about the crit, man. I want to push this in a stylized direction (probably push him with more of a top-heavy build before moving forward, like the Garrison ref), but the foundation needs to be there.
A bit further along on the anatomy today. trying to correct mistakes. enjoying it, but there may still be issues with it, so if anyone notices anything, please let me know
