Hey everyone!
I started work on this project a few days ago and wanted to post it for feedback / documenting my process. I really love the [a e s t h e t i c] of cyberpunk environments and wanted to try making one using a more simplified style like you might see in Jet Set Radio Future. So I'm trying to see how far I can push this with generally flat colors + decals and stuff. Let me know what you think!
Oh yeah this is also totally architecturally inspired by the bar from Akira which is named Harukiya. Upstairs is an adult arcade, downstairs is a normal arcade I guess?
Updates soon!
Mood boards - I found most of these on Pinterest, so if you know whose they are so I can give credit I would be super appreciative.
Original scene blockout. I knew I was going to have more in the environment besides this but it was a good point to start getting some lights and textures on the scene.
Started figuring out some lighting here.

Jet Set Radio is pretty bright, so I wanted to add some brighter contrast to the scene (also the scene looks murky and gross otherwise haha. Worried it might be a little too bright once I get the other neon signs in, but that'll be easy enough to change up.
Where I'm currently at, toned down the lights a bit, but might turn them back up. Added in the vent and the arcade sign at the bottom of the stairs. Gonna need to add some form of molding or something along the stair so it doesn't look so blocky.
Also gonna have debris and other stuff in the street, but that's later.
Cheers!
As always comments and critique are welcome!
Next time on "Scope Creep in Action" I'll have added another side of the street. Haha!
Thanks for taking a look! Comments and Crit always welcome.

Thanks for the tip! I certainly think truncating that corner could help. I also want to add more wires looping around and across stuff. I wonder if I could add some more vertical arcitectural elements too like that overpass / patios.
Back to work! :P
