I was recently asked by CGSociety to create a short tutorial on creature design, specifically around mythological creatures. So thought I'd try my hand at mermaids since it was
#MerMay when I was making this

I always preferred thoughtful creature design, trying to make something look both realistic, but with some fantasy thrown in, so here's my attempt at trying to make a creature sailors may have mistaken for being part human
