i'm from egypt so we don't have that many opportunities for 3d artists if any at all so the only way i can work as a 3d artist is by being a freelancer, so i'm learning 3ds max and i was wondering about the type of files i will be expected to provide ? high poly or low poly ? and if i was to provide a high poly model will i be able to use something like creasing and opensubdive or i can only use edge loops since only edge loops can be transferred from one program to another ? should this high poly model be editable or i can collapse any modifiers and deliver it with tens of thousands of verticies that can only be used for baking ? and if all this is case dependent what will get me more customers ? sorry for asking too many questions

There are many ways to Freelance nowadays but and the core of it you need to be able to model sufficiently to produce the right quality of work for your client, Some people get freelancing jobs from the quality of their online portfolio others might pick up jobs from websites that advertise. The types of files depends on the client, does he want the model for 3d printing or a game engine or so that he can pass it on to an animation there are so many ways a client might use your work. Yes some people will want all the work you do so they might want high and low poly versions its up to you to calculate if you are getting the right price for your work. About file formats, you should really concentrate on doing really good work first, the file format is not a problem once you know what the client wants.
