Hey guys.
I have to recreate an interior in 3D and it has to be as exact as it can be. Modeling smaller assets and props isn´t the problem, but I wonder about how to get the dimensions of the interior right. I am not talking ab out a four sided room, but more something like real life prop of a space ship (the interior) or something like a submarine- you get the idea. I can visit the scene and take pictures, but how would you go about translating that into 3d?
Hope to get some insight here.
Thank you.

I was once involved in creating the interior of an airplane. We used photogrammetry to make the relative sizes of the objects correct and drawing a line with known measurements to serve as a base. I have to admit that the measurements were not sub-millimeter accurate, and the textures and models needed a lot of cleanup due to the quality of our capturing equipment and reflective surfaces. Some of the models were entirely recreated to make them look good.
