Breaking up Texture Atlas files and corresponding FBX to individual geometry + maps

Many of the 3D assets on Megascans are supplied as groups of geometry with corresponding Texture Atlas files.

What I would like is to take these 'grouped' geometry files and break them up to isolate single geometry objects with their corresponding texture maps (from the Texture Atlas files).
And then re save these single pieces of geometry + maps.
Does this make any sense at all?

How can I achieve this?

No. It wouldn't improve the look, you would need to work on it and its also more textures to handle. The only case that I could imagine, is if you only want to use a small portion of the atlas and nothing more from this texture in your project. Then you would save a little bit of texture memory.

If you're using all the models then why would you want to break up the atlas? It sort of defeats the purpose.

But yes, you could break the atlas apart and resave as separate smaller textures. You could layer all the textures as a psd, crop, and save each layer as the individual textures.
