Not a bad design, have a couple tips for you though, if you wanted to improve the cracks on the axe, have a look at actual images of lava cracks on pinterest/google, the one's you've done aren't bad but they are all the exact same width, making them look too orderly.
My other tip is to give the lighting in the shot another go, I think if you gave him a better pose, and lit the shot a little better it'd improve it a lot. A lot of the shadows on his body are so dark that he just falls into the background, try adding a fill light to brighten up those areas, then add a rim light behind him so he pops out from the background
