It's looking very great, you're doing something really impressive. Although it might be a personnal taste but I think your sharpen post processing is a bit too strong.
Almost done! Just a few more props to make then off to reworking a some of the earlier ones. Hoping to get final screens and fly-through up on Artstation by the end of the week.
Big update. SO I'm about 90-95% done with this project (finally), but before I call it done I'd like a full on critique from you guys please . here are images of pretty much the entire scene. One thing that is bugging me though is I feel like the transition from large to small detail isn't as smooth as I'd like. I think I'm lacking on medium detail and shapes. Not sure though. I've been looking at this for awhile now so asking you guys is best.
looking very nice hanging some spiderwebs from the props to the wall / floor could be cool. Maybe it's been mentioned before or it's a choice, anyway looking good!
Your props are great, and the overall mood is fantastic.
My suggestion for solving the medium detail issue: Try using your lighting to break up the prop areas.
You already have a bunch of small light sources(tipped over lanterns, candles, etc) throughout, I think exaggerating their radiuses(radii?) will help break down areas into more digestible chunks. The original concept does it with a lot more exaggeration, but I think somewhere in between will be easier than trying to problem solve it with texture.
@heyeye I think you're very right about that. It's the light sources that are too far apart in radius detail. I need medium detail in the lighting for sure.
Some very nice work here! Keep working with the lighting. The original concept has fairly large areas of warm and cool light that help to distinguish the two rooms a bit and create some interesting highlight interplay on the props in the area where they cross each other. It's very apparent in the area around the chair, but the same warm/cool dynamic happens in a lot of places in that image.

would love to see a breakdown of it with some retrospectives on the project.
