Legend VFX has opportunities to help us expand our current VFX pipeline to encompass greater opportunities for Film, episodic, and commercial work.

Legend VFX is seeking accomplished VFX Artists/TD to join our team. The FX artist will work in conjunction with the CG supervisors and VFX team leads to create effects and simulations that meet the objections of the production.

The FX Artist/TD’s responsibilities include:

• Works closely with creative supervisors and leads to achieve best solutions to shot challenges and developing the final look.
• Creates particle and simulation systems, volume fluids, and liquids in Houdini and Maya (working knowledge of other systems is a plus).
• Responsible for creating high quality simulations and effects for feature films and television (liquid, smoke, fire, destruction, particles etc.)
• Optimizes FX data sets and simulations for efficiencies that work within given schedules.

 Qualifications:

• 3+ years production experience performing FX work in a photo-real/live-action VFX pipeline; commercial, TV, or feature film experience, preferred.
• Diploma/Degree in relevant field, or similar relevant experience.
• Intermediate to expert Houdini in FX knowledge with user experience in a production environment.
• Knowledge of Compositing in Nuke.
• Ability to simulate movement and physical reactions of elements in a real world environment; such as water, smoke, fire, dust, debris and other natural phenomena.
• Great interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
• Ability to script and code simulation systems in MEL and Python.
• Understands elements of the VFX pipeline, including compositing, lighting and matchmoving.
• Understands mathematics and physics for animation.
• Experience with Windows/Linux.
• Experience with Shotgun, an asset.

Working Conditions

• Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position for the majority (up to 90%) of a shift.
• Must be able to use hands/fingers to operate a computer and other office machinery.
• Will be working in a low-lit environment, and may be subject to eye strain
