After my last project (https://www.artstation.com/artwork/8aBon) was finally finished I am moving on to something bigger.

This time around I had the vision of this huge drag racer truck, a combination between rough power and finer engineering. To visualize this a little bit I have created a PureRef board which is displayed below (*Screenshot). In this project I really wanted to use almost an "Ikea" like method to putting several parts together, the engine, the frame, the suspension are all from different vehicles but would go great together. At least that's what I hope they will!

For Software I will be using 3Ds Max 2017 for modeling and Substance Painter for texturing.

I will be posting regular updates in this thread, feel free to comment on anything and everything during this. There are no bad ideas!

Progress_1 Created the main suspension system. Very much not final shapes but I like the way this suspension works!

Progress_2 Created more parts of the frame, working partially from irl truck reference, which seems to work well. I will no move on to create the axel system and keep moving things around or increasing it in size. I want to make sure to have the suspension system visible in the final model so I am going to create plates that partially enclose the system from the middle out but still show the suspension.

I like the amount of details you're putting into the model but I feel like the tires are too "rounded" compared to the rest.
I'm looking forward to seeing this project progress

@CybranM Thanks, it is indeed a bit too rounded on the edges maybe. I mostly do this so the normal comes out better. Which in the end will always lose some of its rounded detail. This might not even be the final tire :)

Hi all! So, some more progress on the truck. I am now defining more and more of the frame and ill probably start doing the engine parts soon, which I will place right behind the cabin. I am also trying to establish an early color palette. I like the black and red! Overall I am having a lot of fun designing this model! I hope you guys like the progress so far :) If there is any input/questions or other communicative needs, feel free to spew in the comments.

So today I had a change of vision, I have switched to pure street drag racing for the truck. I have been watching West Coast Customs and got inspired in the process :) I really like the racing colors and what they do to pull the truck together as a whole. I changed quite a bit and refined a lot of pieces. I am very satisfied with this part of the truck. Now I can probably move on to the front(or I drift off and work on something else)

I finally had some time to work on this project this weekend! After some struggles with finding the right shapes and theme, I came up with the following shapes. This project changes direction quite a lot which I find to be part of my workflow often when working on personal projects. I get inspired by seeing some things in real life or in games and I change on the fly. Hope you guys like where this is going :) I also removed the colors on the materials for now because it was holding me back working on the general vehicle.

Some more progress some yesterday! I moved on to create the hood and front body kits. The project is moving into a direction I am enjoying very much, namely a Hot Rod! I am sort of kit bashing in a way where I take for example the hood of 1 car and mash it up with the grill from another car, which does not always work out but it is a lot of fun working on the shapes and figuring out what looks awesome! I hope you guys like the results so far ;) Any criticism is more than welcome!

Updates, updates :) Not much to say this time. Constructing the body further and further. Got rid of the old truck look, now it looks more like a tough guy truck which is what I am going for! Mixing in Baja truck elements here and there.

So another day, almost threw the whole initial idea out the window and removed one of the back wheels, smoothed out all the lines a lot more and re-did the front part. I am quite happy now with how this all looks and will keep this! On to more detail and engine ;P

A little update again on the vehicle, changed things around numerous times and still going steady on this project because of my limited free time. I feel a bit stuck on the shapes and lines sometimes, which resorts in to me re-doing a whole piece of the vehicle. I think I have to commit to this design at this stage and just see how it pans out!

That's a lot of design changes haha
Personally I like this design the most of the "streetracer" theme you have,

No matter which design you continue with its going to be interesting to see what this project looks like when its done
