Hey guys, I'm working on something small before I'll try to create a bigger environment in unreal. So I've decided to create this little fella, a wizard mimic based on a concept by Arthur Gimaldinov
Here are some wip screenshots. The textures are done in substance painter and it's rendered in Marmoset Toolbag 2!
I'd push the shapes and silhouette more, it feels like a tamer interpretation of the concept right now. Most importantly though, I think the texturing and lighting are letting it down. All the materials feel too wet and shiny, and the detailed texturing is drawing away attention from the bigger shapes.
@Michael Knubben First of all thank you for criticism! Really appreciate it yeah, I absolutely see what you mean, and now that I have a side-to-side comparsion I see all the mistakes I've made. Lightning is completly temporary but you're absolutely right with the textures and materials, they are way too distracting. I'll try to fix it as soon as possible.
So, a little update! Still not finished and not really satisfied to be honest .-. I changed the shape a bit and played around with the lightning. Gonna add some more candles and wax dripping down the stones to make it look a little bit more intresting to look at. Still have to fix the textures but wanted to make a update anyway!
hey, I think I'm almost done! Changed alot on the lightning, textures and the shape of the mesh! I think i'll change the candles a little bit or maybe add some more. Tell me what you guys are thinking about it - is there something that I could improve?
