Voxel skinning is just a way to set weight. The result is same as usual skinning. DeltaMush can not be exported. Is there any tool which can export deltaMush?
Straight Max (and Maya) have all I need, for most jobs. There have been a few models that using other plug-ins for Maya would have made it easier but the hassle of getting those installed and adding them to the overall pipeline is too much friction.
When I was in max, I was using BonesPro which helped get some really good default skin weights and had some good tools for tweaking weights. I was using it for games so I didn't use some of its more advanced deformation helpers because those don't export. A lot of what it does converts to skin pretty well but the cost vs benefit doesn't outweigh the newer tools like geodesic voxel skinning.

It also has deltaMush in DCM.
You don't need plugins.
