So I've just started learning maya, and I'm just coming to the end of a project i'm doing in order to learn the software. I'm just looking back at my normal map and it seems aggressively contrasty in areas with lines of detail going black, instead of shadowy. My workflow has been to do all my sculpting in Mudbox and then export and actually bake the normal map in Maya (everything else seemed to produce horrible results).
I was wondering, Is it normal to ease the contrast of the normal map in photoshop? I don't really want to kill all the detail - I just want to lose the childish black lines.
