Saloon Wall [Substance Painter]

Hi guys,

Hope you're all having a good weekend!

I've just started on some work to go towards my portfolio. It's a Wild West shoot out scene based on these concepts:

This is the modular Saloon wall I've been working on today:

I'm always looking to improve my 3D Modelling / Texturing skills, so any constructive criticism will definitely help me improve. I'm just in a situation where I need someone to tell me straight if this wall is industry standard, and if it's not, then how I could go about improving it.

Just to note, this was my first time properly using Substance Painter. Really enjoyed using it!

Do you have a block out or anything? or just this wall, and have you tried actually tried to see how it looks in engine when put together? at the moment it just looks flat, as if there's no detail in the roughness map or any colour variation so so it looks a bit samey, I'd also suggest looking into substance designer for creating your wood or sculpting individual planks in zBrush and creating some tiling materials rather than creating individual pieces and texturing them like this, as that will take be a lengthy process.

if i were you I'd take a lot at some examples such as this one by Joshua Williams

    Thanks for the feedback!

I have a block out of the scene which I've tested in UE4, thought I'd start modelling the walls first. I think what I'll do is try and make some stuff in substance designer.

    Thanks again for responding
