Hi!
I've been lurking for a long time, but I guess it's time to try and get involved
I'm gonna be making this character, designed by this guy :
https://www.artstation.com/artist/angelmoonlight.
Doing this for practice and to add to my portfolio.

Gonna be pushing it a bit and making some smaller changes that I personally feel will add to the character.
Here's where I'm at right now, still just a rough base.

Hoping for some nice feedback on this as I go.
Thanks for checking it out, I think I'm gonna have a lot of fun with this one!

Current status - I think I like the face now but I can already feel my mind changing. I think maybe her eyes are a little too big. I'll have to not look at it for a while and come back to it after work.
Updatez! Sort of scratching my head about how to do the vest thing, as in the concept it kinda looks like she's only wearing half a vest. If you have any suggestions as to how it might look on the back, please let me know
More things! Thanks for the kind words!
Last week was busy as shit so I haven't had time to add all that much, but I've gotten most of the parts in there.
I reduced the volume of her hair a little bit when I added the boot buckles, so she's not quite as top heavy. I feel like that works better.
Next up is solving the vest thingy issue and replacing the horribad tights placeholder. Then detail time. I think.
Gonna wait a bit with the blade and bloodbag.
Chipping away
Been doing some details and smaller tings before I get back to the gauntlets. I don't think the gauntlets feel very functional at the moment.
Updates! Spent a good while on her gauntlets now, and I feel pretty good about those. They need some more polish but I think they work pretty well like this. I think the HP is getting pretty close to finished, hopefully dipping into retopo this weekend.
I haven't really decided what to do about her hair quite yet, but I know I need to practice alpha cards. Not sure if it would feel right for her though. Opinions on that?
small crit is the feet looks a bit small.
Decimated and put her in toolbag to see how proportions felt with a more proper camera.
And thanks for pointing out the feet @lotet , I increased the size just slightly, and made the legs a bit longer Feels much better to me.
I think I'll start retopo tonight unless I get some critical feedback today
Thanks for looking!
Thanks again for looking! : D
And thank you @lotet and @Mark Dygert - I'm getting to the texturing as soon as I'm done with the sword and sheath. Started on the sword today!
It needs a bit more work but it should be done tomorrow.
Update! Sorry it's been so long, been doing another smaller project and.. totally nopt playing botw. At all.
Anyway, this is where I'm currently at. Thinking I'll call this cool for now, and move on to texturing the sword and sheath next.
After that the eyes and hair needs to happen.
I'm not gonna do the bloodbag I think. Would immediately become a useless piece if she was to be animated.
Thanks for stopping by, thanks for looking, and as always - please drop any critiques you might have!
dont skip out on the bloodbag! its an important part of the whole vampire part
Here is where I'm currently at with the hair (I'm terrible at this hair card stuff, but I guess that's why they call it learning lol).
I think what's next is keep filling in where it's too thin, and adding in flyaways and little wispy stuff. I left the hairline a bit high for now so I can add inn softer stuff to transition that area better later. Kinda fumbling in the dark still.
I can see a bunch of stuff that needs fixing as I write this but I gotta update at some point I guess
@Aveon Dude, go for it! I love pretty much all his stuff. I might very well end up doing more of his concepts : D
@lotet Yeah, i see what you mean regarding the bloodbag. It would be a problem if I made her hold the sword though, there would be nowhere to hang the bag. I'll put some more thought into it and see what I can figure out. Maybe it could hang from the collar with the sheath or something. I'll try my best to find a solution!
I'm also gonna go over the textures and stuff one more time when I feel like the hair is looking alright.
Thanks for looking! : D
Could you recommend any tutorials for create hair like that?
Polycount's wiki has a section for hairs: http://wiki.polycount.com/wiki/HairTechnique
Also here's a little tutorial: https://www.3dartistonline.com/news/2015/04/how-do-i-create-real-time-hair-for-games/
I hope it can be halpfull to you and others. @funk80 here for you some tutorials
Next up is taking another look at my textures and see what I can do to improve those, now that I've focused on something else for a little while
@lotet No, I don't, but I might do something like that now to ease the transition a bit more. We'll see!
@funk80 I watched this demo of the GMH2 plugin which is what I used, and that's pretty much all I have.
e: forgot to put the link in, lol
I'm pretty happy with what I have here at the moment, so unless I recieve some critical feedback the pose is final and lighting up next!
Thanks again for looking, and for putting me on the frontpage!
This may be late to the party, but I think the leather might look better with a more brown hue like the concept, it looks a little bit unified now. That's pretty minor though, so even if you are calling textures done it's a great piece!
Looking forward to final lighting! This light setup looks fine so I imagine if you are going to improve it it's gonna blow up!
@RocketBrian - I'm working on that right now! Got some new lighting and stuff for the final images : D Not sure how much I can do with her face, very inexperienced in that field. but I'll do my best!
@lotet - yeah man, I'm aware of that - these are just quick and dirty screengrabs, final images will look better!
I really appreciate the feedback - I'm gonna make one more pose for her over the weekend, and then I think I'm ready to call this one done!
Thanks for looking! : D
Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to give feedback on this! Took a good while but I'm pretty happy with the result
Learned a load about hard surface, hair and posing in doing this.
I'm calling it final, but any feedback is still much appreciated so I can keep it in mind for future projects!
Onwards to the next!
