Hey everyone, first post here :P
So, I am having this quite annoying problem in Mudbox, which I believe is simple to fix, I just dont know how.
Basically, everytime I subdivide a mesh with Shift+D, all the edges becomes hardened. I tried reading many pages on the internet, but I could not solve it. I tried different things, exporting as OBJ, exporting as FBX (Smoothing Groups and Smooth Mesh on).
Also, all the hardened edges I made on Maya 2016 is also lost on the middle of the subdivision process.
Is there any way to keep the mesh as it was imported while subdiving, whithout losing the hard edges and getting smooth edges hardened?
By the way, this is the Dragon King Greataxe from Dark Souls, I am making it as a mod for Skyrim, I was going to bake textures using the high poly.
Here a video I made to clarify things:

• First, clean up your lowpoly model. Unlock all normals, set all edges to smooth.
• Use creasing or good old edge loops to make your model look the way you want it in Max/Maya. If you are using edge loops, export your base mesh. If you are using creases, export at around two levels of subdivision.
• Mudbox has the option to smooth or not smooth while subdividing. Here :
