Hey dudes,
Latest update:

I've been working on Anastasia Nikulina's
Manitou concept as part of the Artstation challenge but just didn't have the time to get it done so I thought why not make a progress thread here instead!
Here's where I am atm, would love some feedback. Anatomy sculpt needs a detail pass but is kinda done, LP is in a similar state just needs a bit of refining. Currently sitting at 27kish tris.

Gonna move onto hair and give my sculpting muscles a rest. Pretty lacking in knowledge about realtime hair - gonna try out Hairworks but would love any suggestions. Cheers!

Currently have body LP and unwrapped. Started the shoulder pads but I think I'm gonna wait to do those - I've asked a buddy of mine to rig her in the pose from the concept. I think it'll be easier to figure out how they should look when theyre in the correct position/perspective.
As for the hair I'm pretty clueless. I applied a texture + alpha to it to check it out in U4 but its looking pretty ass - I think it's because its so long and 'full' and I just dont have the alphas there to build that up yet. Unsure whether to do this just through alphas or insert a big long mesh inside the hair with a hair material applied.
Did a quick hair test in UE4 with some super rough materials + textures. Not as bad as I initially thought it'd be - the mid section is a lot fuller than I thought it would be. Just need to get some variation in there and fill out her scalp.
I've been working on creating hair alphas for a little while, following this tutorial and have also noticed that Rodrigo Gonçalves used a similar method with his Blacksmith to an excellent result so I'm definitely gonna carry on down that route.
no im not putting the hair off.....okay maybe a little
Did some work on her tattoo-thingies. I think they look alright for now but may readdress later. Unsure about the placement of the forehead one but I think after she has eyebrows it'll be easier to tell. Knocked the emissive off for now - think I need to find a more elegant way of adding it rather than just painting it on with a soft brush.
Asked my buddy Michael Lindsay to rig + pose her. Some tweaks to be done and I think I'm gonna have to throw a corrective morph over the top to solve the collapsing behind her knee thats happening due to the extreme angle.
Started working on her hair. Theres something off about it, especially from a distance but I think I can fix that by adding more layers.
Added a little bit of movement (gif seems to have sped everything up a lot).
Getting close now. Todo list - materials need a once over; hair needs finishing; hand particles need adding; pose fixes and corrective morphs need to be applied.
Making the last few adjustments and sorting presentation out. Crit would be awesome!
