Hello,

I've checked through some of the existing threads and was able to get a start on some bark, but I'm a bit stuck trying to think of the best method to achieve some of the scraggly edging around the "plates" of bark in my ref.  My current attempt is trying to create a few unique chunks and then use a tile sampler type node to spread them around and build up with that, but I don't feel like I can do that until I get these rough layered edges correct on each plate.

Currently, I've been getting the hang of just trying to make a shape like this:

Try instead to start with a tile generator/sampler that produces stretched paraboloid/gaussian images with the blending mode set to max. You can then warp this and produce solid outlines to work from:

Hm, so this is interesting or useless:  I was able to mimic something close to the layery/warble edges using the "make it tile" node and adjusting the mask warping.  It has some other unwanted consequences and doesn't quite give me other things I want, but it could be useful somehow?
