I felt like I ought to start one of these project threads since I'm doing a portfolio piece that is more than one asset!
The point of the current project is to become better at hand painted textures and organizing and breaking down the process into a not-overwhelming task (I even have a whiteboard scrum!).
For inspiration, I have looked at a lot of Zelda: Windwaker but with a viking twist to it. The end result will be a bit less stylized however and the designs will be more down to earth. Baby steps I guess, haha.

This is the concept art I started out by doing. I went for like a wind waker mixed with snowy deep forest-sweden and vikings basically.
I used photoshop and a wacom tablet to paint it.

These are the first actual meshes I did.
I did all the modeling in 3Ds Max, then I moved it all into 3D Coat and Photoshop for texturing. The point of this project is to become better at hand painted textures.
Next up is making the scene, which starts out with the trees!
