I have this problem with my character. As you can see in maya this face is slightly darker. But in marmoset problem is much more apparent. When i use "soften edge" (maya 2016), in maya problem is solved. But when i export FBX in marmoset and unity there are strange shadows on entire surface of the hair. When i do "harden edge", in maya all is good, but when export, shadows are gone but darken face problem is back. Vertex normals are all pointing in right direction. I tried average function, also it solve the problem in maya, but not when i export. Is there some option i should check when exporting? I tried few without any luck.

Select the hair mesh> unbind skin > while hair is selected> mesh display > average > edit >delete by type > history > bind skin for hair. This worked. Same solution of average normal's but without delete history part didn't worked.
