Hey guys!
I'm a final year Computer Games Art Student at Teesside University, and I thought it would be a good idea to make a thread here to update as I work on my final year project so I can snag some of that juicy Polycount advice and critique.
The idea of my project is to take this home from a block of apartments in the Gardens District in Dishonored 2 and use it as a foundation to create a home belonging to a crazed occultist who obsesses over the creation of bone charms in an effort to gain the favour of the Outsider. The final product should hopefully be able to give a "player" insight into the state of mind and life of the owner.
I'll start off with a few shots of the current state of the environment. Right now I'm coming up to the end of the modelling phase, so all textures are preliminary tests in Substance Painter or placeholders and there is still a few blockout assets kicking around such as the typewriter on the table, the barricades on the windows, some chunks of bone and the Outsider Shrine in the workshop which is getting reworked entirely.
Also in case you're interested I've been keeping a (mostly) weekly progress blog,
redfreeman3d.wordpress.com, which I'm going to be updating as well as posting in this thread as I go through the rest of the project.

The corner top left of the 'kinda' arch has a lightmap problem or a bad lighting.
Since around the time of the last post I was focusing on wrapping up the modelling phase, and since then I've been trying to get a solid handle on lighting (e.g. obsessively re-lighting the entire environment and digging up every resource I can find to do with lighting). I feel like I'm making progress there, as I've gone from "child scribbling with crayons" to "actually has a rough idea of what he's doing", though I fully expect to shuffle everything around another few thousand times before I feel like it's finished.
My current list of things to do is as follows
1. Fill out the empty space in the main room with some books, papers and other clutter (including some scribblings of runes for that empty main wall)
2. Put together the vertex painting materials to help break up the various floor textures and the walls with a bit of water damage and dirt
3. Sorting out the lighting issues I'm getting along the windows and on the barbed wire the charms are hanging from
4. Go over the textures for some of the assets (most importantly change the colours on the bed and travel case to be more distinct from the walls and completely re-do the typewriter to bring it more in line with the one in Dishonored)
5. Finally get around to sculpting some chunks of whalebone
6. Spend a bit of time set dressing and polishing assets in the kitchen
Feedback is welcome as always
