Hey all, I wanted to share some of the weapons I did for the Modern Warfare remaster. I had the pleasure of over seeing all weapon production for the project as well as being able to make a few of my favorites from the original. Being a big fan of the original Modern Warfare it was a really fun project to bring back to life! All weapons across the project were textured inside of Substance Painter.
There's lots of other great weapon work on the project so if any of the other artists get some of their renders together feel free to post em here!
Got another one. This time decided to try out the Iray render inside of Substance Painter. This one was a post launch weapon concepted by Rick Zeng with the goal of still feeling like a grounded, relatable weapon. More renders on the ArtStation Page https://www.artstation.com/artwork/qKAQz
Thanks! Last one from me. I think some of the other guys are working on getting their renders together so hopefully more from the rest of the team soon! Lots of other great work.
This was a cosmetic alternative to the base AK47 in the game that was added after launch. The theme was "battle worn", so pretty beat up. The AK family is capable of firing without its dust cover so I thought it'd be cool to see one missing and having the inside exposed. Big shout out to our animator, Jason Holt, who got the necessary exposed parts moving in the short firing animation More here: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/3Qoqg
I really love the battle worn AK. The attention to detail is astounding, I think my favorite part of it is actually the damaged wood at the front hand guard, this really feels like solid wood that has a taken a beating. Awesome to see the overhaul you guys done to all the weapons.
These weapons make me so jealous I mean you made the M4a1 look good you've done impossible At that point you can probably even make the AK 12 look good.
My favorite out the bunch is the AKM It's got a nice balance between wear and shininess
My least favorite, while technically great, is the green sniper rifle(I forget what it's called) I get that it's through no fault of your own(it's the way the weapon is) but I just felt that the green base was a bit too uniform and... stale. The wear on that plastic looks really really procedural.
Overall, great work looking forward to your next thing
Well. Ethan has already dominated this thread with perfect renders... but I'll add what I can haha
I just want to say thanks to Ethan and my peers for the opportunity to contribute to such an amazing project, I've learned a ton and truly feel like being a part of this team has been a milestone for me. Everything below was textured in substance painter and modeled in 3dsMax. Thanks all!
Some of the DLC weapon content I've worked on as well.
HiPoly for the m21 "Assassin" weapon kit, the final was completed by another artist. Darkened portions were re-use of the base weapon originally created by Ethan Hiley.

But ive been wondering, ingame it looks like ambient occlusion is missing from the weapons, did they forget maybe ?
Appreciate the kind words!
@Ckafee No breakdowns yet, still working on getting some more renders together but hopefully soon.

I remember trying out MWR at my friends place and thinking that I cant even see the guns being low poly and it looks so good!
