A new sword i'm working on. Critiques and comments very welcome, thanks in advance. Highpoly (the materials are just to get an idea, not final by any means)
Finally got time to finish the lowpoly and bake it. Polycount is a bit high (too much?) 6k tris are just for those braids on the scabbard but not sure how to further optimize that, tried first just baking them to the base scabbard mesh and it looked too flat.
I thought about it, main reason to have them separate is i'll get the sword in skyrim, where specular color (and cubemap) is a setting on the mesh, so the cross and fleur need to be separate mesh chunk than the chape, though the whole upper part of the scabbard could be on the bronze mesh...
The fleurs do have some volume but the cross is pretty flat:
I've een working on some materials (not all for this project) : bronze, gold, silver steel and leather. Focusing on weathering, damage, tarnishing, etc.
Nice work; the materials are great. Maybe you could have lighter scratches on the scabbard that go to a lighter red tone than all the way to yellow, just for a bit of extra detail.
I agree with @lildragn. Once you are satisfied with them, put them on Substance Share or gumroad etc. and get your name out there. People love to see free stuff on Artstation. There's nothing to lose
