Lead 3D Artist
We are recruiting for a senior level, lead 3D artist for a full-time position at the studio.
Ideally the candidate should have a
minimum of 6 years production experience, with some of that time spent
in a supervisor or team lead role. This timescale is negotiable
depending on portfolio but a specialism in lighting, visual effects and
compositing would also be an advantage. The role will entail both on the
job production work delivering modelling, vfx, lighting and compositing
for studio projects alongside team coordination, providing feedback and
review for other artists work.
There is also scope for developing our studio pipeline and procedures as the we continue to grow.
The role will be based at Interference Pattern’s studio in Edinburgh.
Responsibilities:
- Acting as the studios lead 3d artist, responsible for creating 3d content and supervising 3d teams at the studio.
- Lighting, shading rendering and compositing scenes and shots, then
taking the assigned shots and sequences all the way through from
assembly to composite to final delivery.
- Working closely with project director and supervisor to define the lighting style required for the project.
- Delivering fully lit and composited shots and sequences to the high standard expected by the studio.
- Modelling and texturing environment assets from 2d concept artwork. Both polygonal and subdivision modelling required.
- Supervising a small team of
artists, ensuring that they all deliver assets to the required high high
standards, both internally and for external clients
- Ensuring that all artists work meets the required artistic and technical standard required.
- Providing feedback and review on other artists work and submissions.
Requirements:
Artistic requirements:
- Minimum of 6 years production experience, with some in a lead or supervising role
- Experience in delivering final quality shots and sequences for commercials, high-end game cinematics or film
- Delivering vfx shots a bonus, including tracking and compositing.
- Hard surface environment and prop modelling, high poly sculpting (Zbrush) and organic character modelling
- An attention to detail and ability to self-critique
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Experience supervising small teams of artists
- An ability to guide and direct junior members of the team
- A strong track record in successfully delivering projects within
deadlines, whilst meeting the required quality and creative criteria
- Both photorealistic and stylized 3d abilities
- Ability to build 3d models using efficient topology
- Familiarity with working within studio pipelines
Personal Requirements:
- Currently be able to work in the UK.
- Able to be located on-site in Edinburgh
Software Requirements:
- Familiarity with the following software;
- 3D in Houdini , Softimage & Maya
- Compositing in Nuke
- Allgorithmic Substance texturing suite
