hey everyone,
i was thinking it would be a good idea to get some crits an all the sci-fi stuff I do. So thee is the thread
so first here is what i am up to at the moment; I started that as a concept quicksculpt but quickly realised it would be a good eercice to go all the way on it.
I am now strating to retopo the guy but still not sure how i should handle it. Going all in one piece, separate some pieces, separate all of them... If you have any idea or advice on that, drop a line, always helpfull
ps: the idea for the darker parts was that it would be mostly cloths

And here is what the retopo looks like
Fweddy Basically it goes like this, Zbrush for concept, retopo in Topogun, UV's in Maya and then back in zbrush for high res model. I actaully use this project mainly to build a new pipeline for personnal stuff
But now that i got more time i'll try to be a bit more active.
Anyway here are some progress I made texturing that guy. Colors are more than likely going to change, but for now, as i don't have a very precise idea of what I want, they are a good way to try sketching some ideas
Probably gonna put this guy on hold for a week so I can do other stuff and go back at it with a clearer mind and start detailing
All rendered with Iray inside substance btw
Haven't choose yet between the three versions yet but I might also keep the three of them in the end
Note: The emissive aspect on the lines of the suite is more a "bling bling/ me trying stuff in substance" for now. This may as well be removed in the final render
the "demoreel" pose
and the action pose (not sure about this one yet)
Right now i almost got everything back but still some adjustement to make. In the meantime, marmoset was perfect to get an idea
Quite happy with the result i get in the end
Now let's move on to the next project, not sure yet what it's going to be as I have several ideas on the list. But I might go for some realistic stuff, like a portrait or something
Awesome end result but still maybe something to consider for next time.
Thanks for the comment. I agree, posing is definitly not my strongest point
I might try another pose with this character as well, I just need to find some pose reference which for some reason is the thing I struggle the most with. I never know which one to choose
Just started to work on my new project
Lately while doodling online I found some really inspiring portrait of soldiers and as I found myself quite obsesed by realistic portrait lately, I decided to jump on it.
The idea is not to copy an existing thing but more to translate it with a touch of star wars in it. Something like a soldier portrait after the battle of Endor.
Still the beginning but I started to mess around and ended up with this straight out of zbrush
Quite generic for now but I am working on it
More stuff coming, as soon as i've put the ideas together
And here are my progress so far
I think the brows on your head sculpt extend a bit to high and it's affecting the forehead a bit too much.
Btw I really love the expression on your Batman character!
I did some update this lunch time. Never realized how fun it was to try realistic sculpt

It's a character from the comic book Saga which I find interesting because it might be a good one to start digging into Xgen a bit more. And realistic texturing.
