I can't be the only one frustrated with this. You show someone your work and they say, "That's really good."
Really good? Did you notice that I labeled every object, group, and joint in the scene? My outliner is a fucking masterpiece. You didn't even open up my hypershade, pleeb.

Expect nothing less than mockery and ridicule if you fail to achieve the bare minimum.
If you'll excuse me, I'm off to the theme park where I'll be congratulating everyone that is taller than the sign.

Really good? Did you notice that I prime, put fake lashes on, and did a fucking ombre eyeshadow. My eyeliner is a fucking masterpiece. You didn't even look at my contouring, pleeb."
I'm not sure if this is a serious rant or joke tbh

No?...
Okay I'm gonna do it anyway because I'm obsessive compulsive.
"For fuck sake, granny, the fucking keyframes are set to smooth interpolation!!"
It's like stated above: 'laymen' can't be expected to be wowed by something they neither understand nor are passionate about. If your mate spent hours explaining his rare collection of Victorian soup spoons, you might not show the appreciation he'd imagined......

What exactly do you want them to do in your ideal world where they notice that stuff?
Now, if you want a hear real case of "misunderstanding 3D", I commonly hear people say how game engines (or renderers in general) have attached "looks to them".
Like, if you render something in Unreal Engine, it has to have a brown color palette, or if someone made a cartoon game it's because it was made using some cartoon tools. Having used a variety of both real time and offline renders, I never once came across the mythical "make art brown button".
