Another batch of sketches done for my painting series. I don't have a completely clear picture when I start these, so it's fun to discover characters, creatures and environments as I'm painting.
Aíma, The Blood Siphon, washes through human cities like a starving
locust swarm. Few, if any, claim to know the reasons why. The blood
magic is used to summon demons some say. Others claim dark forbidden
rituals are conducted with the blood. None no for certain, yet it is
unedeniable the terror that is struck into human hearts when they hear
of Aíma's arrival. "Such abundance of mediun to work with, it mustn't go
to waste."
@TudorMorris Thank you very much, really appreciate it .
Also very flattered to receive front page on a couple of my sketches, thank you so much!
Here's the latest sketch, done during my livestream. Part of the same universe as the rest of the images in this sketchbook.
The
city lay quiet, no need for alarm bells to be rung or for the guard or
hunters to be called. The night watch wasn't in for an event that night,
or so they thought. A faint cry of birds could be heard in the
distance, and grew louder, and louder still. Through the clouds, a
faceless giant silently broke through, the amassed flock of birds
circling it's gargantuan floating horns. Within its form,
its large gaping maw, glowing magenta beneath runes, opened. Monsters
of the night began pooling and overflowing into the unsuspecting city
below. Many will die this night, knowing not that their end was brought
by Latros'isith, The Gateway.
Màt’ergenu, The Life Spinner. From deep within the depths of worlds
unheard and unspeakable, all manner of beast and dark incarnations spawn
forth to plague humanity. But, they are not born like you. They are
molded, sculpted into existence, painfully. With her very being,
Màt’ergenu endlessly creates monsters and abominations in an effort to
recreate her child, now lost to the abyss. “There can not be growth,
without pain, nor life without death.”
Hey everyone! This is an image that's part on series I've been working on for the past few months.
Absolutely power corrupts absolutely, and even angels are no exception to this. Puraniisil was an angel of swift justice. Agile with her pike, blessed by the Makers, nothing could stand against her, not until she came up against the Queas'cith, a giant predator of enormous power and destruction, laying waste to human villages and cities in its path. Puraniisil fought the creature for 3 days, the land forever scarred from their long battle. When the dust had settled, the Queas'cith lay lifeless. Deep inside, Puraniisil could feel its great power pulsing, whispering, calling to her. "This monster was born from evil, best to leave it be." Her resolve was strong, but the urge grew stronger, the desire increased, almost unbearably so. I could...use this power for good. Imagine the lives I could save, I could change the world such a power. She reached her hand into the carapace of the dead beast and grasped its heart. The surge she felt was euphoric, enlightening, overwhelming even, but then it quickly changed to pain, fear, and then darkness took her. From that day, Puraniisil was never the same.
Even at its larval stage, the Membricimex is a creature never to be
approached alone, if at all. It resides in dark damp environments where
it feeds on unsuspecting prey or young hunters, foolish enough to
underestimate the beast for an easy kill.
Most hunters choose the profession out of necessity, it's
not something most grow up pursuing; those that do are rare, and rather
exceptional at their craft. Venandis Foltiik, is one such human being.
From the day she could pick up a blade, it was as if she found her true
self. After completing the hunters trials and being unleashed into the
world a honed weapon, Venandis gave the monsters a reason to fear the night.
" I kill to live, and live to kill." -Venandis, The Feral.
also here is the initial quick line sketch and rough colors for the image.
Hey everyone, so I've been streaming every Tuesday and Thursday but haven't been promoting it on here because I'm dumb lol. I stream those days from 1-5pm. If any of you are interested to drop by and say hey or paint/work alongside all are welcome! Hope to see some of you there!
Wow! Really cool work. I particularly like the dragon guarding the city but I think there's a bit to much space separating out the bottom quarter and that it could be shifted up and re cropped. Just my thoughts. It's an absolutely stunning piece!
