Technical Artist

Jagex, the UK’s leading online games studio, is looking for an exceptional and passionate technical artist to join our in-house RuneScape art team.

This is a great opportunity for a technical artist looking for a varied and challenging role with a great opportunity for creative input and technical direction.

You should be able to utilise your knowledge and experience to drive forward any improvements to our pipelines and workflows.  Where possible thinking outside the box and coming up with inventive solutions to everyday technical art problems.

Above all, team fit is an essential part of this role.  We are looking for someone who's at ease at always putting the team first.  You should be completely self-motivated and take every effort to demonstrate outstanding initiative.

 

Key Duties Include:

  • Assists in designing tools/process solutions and pipelines for artists.
  • Develops tools solutions using scripting or programming languages associated with production applications.
  • Recognizes inefficiencies and problems in existing pipelines and identifies solutions.
  • Supports improvement/enhancement of processes on a live MMO
  • Assists other artists in technical aspects of game creation.

Essential Requirements:

  • Solid understanding of polygon modeling, UV editing, Character Rigging, etc
  • Solid understanding of MAX Script tool development and other relevant languages
  • Strong understanding of current generation rendering techniques.
  • Competence in C# and C++ and with real-time shader development.
  • Competence with math functions and linear algebra for rigging or shading.
  • A strong interest in other platforms and emerging technology.
