Hi guys! Thank you for checking my thread!
I choose a great concept from Nikolay Stoyanov for PoP Warrior Within for my main inspiration

My main goal for that off course is finish it

and I would try to create the same mood and atmosphere for that scene as close as possible and improve it for my taste.
So, this is gonna be intense

And more defined blockout in ue4.
C&C welcome!!!)
But it's just a placeholder textures and I will show my sculpts soon as I get to computer)
I'm not really getting a Prince of Persia vibe here. Specifically, I don't see anything in here that really reminds me of Persia.
Take a look at Persian or ancient Iranian architecture. Take a look at these:

One thing I think you could do is rework the arches on the left side to have that pinched arch look. I don't think you need to go crazy with the tilework like some references have, but I do think you could add much more visual interest to the ground with a more ornate stone pattern as well.
• Cleanup work with meshes
• made sculpt for stairs, arch parts
after work I will post screenshots with sculpts and would try to write about what I need to do more
Composition wise I think that, right now, your two strong points in the scene (leaving aside the mannequins) are the second column from left to right and, far second, the statue at the end. Lighting isn´t helping tho. Probably some color variation will make the statue a focal point, which is what you are aiming for I guess?
Quick advice: if the lighting is going to stay this way (or not change much) I would destroy the second column, or paint it with blood, or add a corpse or some like that. Make it interesting to look at. This scene is screaming for a cold light, some nice blue fire at the end in the statue will not only pop the thing out but also create a great interesting color contrast.
Looking solid thus far man! Following ^^
Columns are a bit to repetitive and clean but I'm sure it's going to change later.
Keep it going dude! This is gonna be a cool piece.
ZacD Vegetation would defiantly helps!
AlexBes big thanks! I try my best)
OctOstera thank you! Actually I didn't create this textures it's just a placeholders) Maybe I need to start baking because more and more people tells about strange textures)))
I was thinking about composition and yeah as you said scene have two focal points - one from left where image has the most brightens and second its a statue. And in the future I will try to shift the focus more on the statue cause I think it would be the hardest part for this scene from sculpting point of view.
I have one early screenshot where I put a fire around statue and it helps a lot with composition ... I'll think about returning a fire in a scene, thanks)
Sharur big thx! Yeah, for sure)
Add3r appreciate) I experimenting and study lighting in ue4 for this scene and man ... lightning is HARD! So much attention and feelings we need for to make something visually stunning! I'll take your advice and would work with lighting more for sure.
• Couple highpoly shots
• Prepare arch meshes for sculpting
• Place fire around statue
• Tweak lighting a bit
- resculpt bottom part of column;
- finish all geo for main parts of the scene such as columns, arches, stairs, wood beams;
- create stone texture in substance designer for roof and right wall;
- create dirt texture for floor;
- BAKE all meshes T_T
- and continue to work with the lighting and look for references to the missing items
Some bake shots:
Decide to change name of thread from "PoP WW Fan art" to " Cliff Shrine corridor " for me this name tells more about scene and like gsokol said "I'm not really getting a Prince of Persia vibe here. Specifically, I don't see anything in here that really reminds me of Persia." I admit it too)))
• So, spent couple hours sculpting texture for stone wall. Nothing special just CB,TSB and couple alphas
Right now I think about patter for floor and what to sculpt around statue
I have an idea to add little sand mounds ... tell me what you think!
Perhaps some vases/pots and other simple props could establish the scale better so character stand-ins aren't as needed. The standing torches seem a bit out of place, but I don't know if they're placeholder at the moment. To me, it just seems like they need more of a base or something because they would appear to fall over easily.
Another idea is the shrine could be an additional place for an artifact - could be anything from a jewel or a dagger, to further make it a central piece. Just throwing ideas out as I type.
Great work so far! Keep us updated.
after vacation on GDC I became a little lazy ...
So! UPDATE!!!
• POTS!
• APEX FLAGS without ripping at the moment
• FIREPLACES
• A LOT OF TINY FIXES!!!
Right now I need ivy and vines for additional details and ... off course ... Statue
look dope I think)
scene are lacking of green but I would add plants later
and teared flags
