I've been working on this in my free time for a bit and figured I'd start a WIP thread for him. I was inspired by this awesome animation by Patrick Schoenmaker -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iE8v5WDbbC4. I don't want to rip off the animation, but I thought it would be fun to do my own stylized take on Indy. I'm considering making a few variations of him so his hat and jacket are removable, in addition to useable props like his whip, pistol, and some kind of artifact, but we'll see how things go.

Making some progress. Finally getting in the ballpark with the likeness.
For anyone interested, I'm recording a video production journal for the entire process of making this character. I'll be uploading the clips to youtube as I go. - - - Indy Production Journal - - -
Will be fun to follow this, can't wait to see it done. Cheers!
@apllana Interesting thought about the more rounded nose. I don't thinking I'm going to go nearly as exaggerated as the animation with my model, but I've tried to push things a bit more.
Here's a little update. Gotta add a smirk - he just doesn't look like himself without it!
The above is a great resource for Indy's clothing and equipment.
I own most of it all IRL, so I like seeing Indy get a little modern attention. He's all but forgotten these days.
Here's a small update on the sculpt... getting pretty close, but there's a little more polish to do yet. I was pretty happy with the results I got on the bullwhip with minimal effort using noisemaker/a quick unwrap. I need to add the tail to the end and make some other adjustments, but it gave me a good starting point.
I'm still debating about creating some kind of pedestal or mini environment to showcase him with. Maybe an artifact as well?
I think you have a tendency to make materials just a tad to glossy, and they come of as a bit plasticy, especially the shirt, hair and the skin.
Since the textures are still WIP I bet your already working on it, but though id mentioned it just in case
also this deserves way more upvotes.
I think you have to make the sweat a separate layer/texture on top of the skin, so its not as uniform but rather its own thing.
For now, here's some more progress on textures for his outfit. Getting soooo close.
Early scene with a bit of lighting experimentation:
Here's the more polished version of the ruin. I still need to add foliage, etc...!
I think you might need a bit extra AO or tweak some of your skin shader, I feel like your missing some darker shadows on the hands connecting to the sleeves and the forehead at the hat for example.
For now though, I finished the low poly and bakes for the ruin set-piece. Next up, adding some textures and foliage. I'll refine the pose for Indy once I get him in the scene and figure out what I want to do with him.
also you should ad some vines and foliage to make it even better!
I did a little bit of tiling, but for the most part I'm a sucker for unique UVs. It's embarrassing because it's so inefficient, but here's everything with unique texture space.
Also, I realized I never posted this. My plan for the final render is to have Indy exiting the ruin entrance with the artifact and a torch (hopefully with some cool lighting effects.)
Here's a small update - still VERY rough. Starting to put everything together to see what I needs to be polished for the final.
I love the story telling and it definitely feels Jones!
Great job dude!
is that your final composition or are you still playing around with it?
also just an idea, but It might be cool with some light or something coming from the entrance?
@lotet I'm still experimenting with stuff at this point. I want to fill in the foliage some more, add some sparks around the torch, maybe add some dust effects... etc. I'll try the glowing entrance, that could be cool!
I will be setting up a model viewer in the next couple days, too.
All you gotta do is add another pistol and make this a bit more western themed. Get rid of the satchel.
Then enter yourself in the art station wild west contest.
congratulations on finishing, nice presentation shots as well.
