Hey guys, I have been using TB3 to bake my normals for a prop I am currently working on. I've hit a roadblock though and as far as I am aware I didn't do much wrong, The baker is giving artefacts on a face (not along the edges) which has good high/low overlap and the cage is offset enough to cover the high. Also checked the unwrap incase there were any overlapping/flipped faces but there are not, The ring of polygons have been unwrapped straight but I have done that on other areas of the mesh with no issues.

In Substance Painter (with no cage), I haven't got any artifact:
Thanks !
Thanks!
We've looked into this more and have been unable to reproduce the problem on our end. I had initially thought I was seeing the same thing with one of the example files, however, it turned out I wasn't updating the preview material, so it didn't show me the updated result (which was working as expected).
We think this problem may be some sort of hardware or driver specific issue. Please post the following information if you're having this problem:
1. Operating system and version
2. Graphics card make and model
3. Graphics card driver version
Also, try updating to the latest graphics card drivers, and if that fixed the problem, please let me know.
Thanks!

I've had artifacts and sometimes even Toolbag crashes with the baker with 2 different drivers. The arctifacts don't appear to be completely random, they are consistent for each mesh but I don't know what causes them to appear in the middle of flat surfaces.
For me, the preview as you mention doesn't update either, I tend to poke the offset slider and that forces it to rebake for me For this reason I usually switch Autobake to Full.
Just in case it is of any help I've recorded a video loading 2 meshes in a completely new scene and toggling options on and off to show how it affects the errors in case that helps (you'll see me go back to the offset slider after each edit because of what I've mentioned above :P

Can you post your OS/GPU/GPU driver information?
Thanks
Thanks for the information. Can you (and anyone else who is having the problem), try installing Toolbag 3.00 and seeing if that fixes the problem?

We're looking into this problem on our end. It's interesting to see that 3.00 works, while 3.01 doesn't. There were actually several revisions of the 3.01 build that ended up being released, one of which had a baker flaw almost exactly like the one we're seeing here. I'm wondering if perhaps this problem is a result of being slightly out of date.
This will be easy to check. Simply do a full uninstall, and then reinstall with the latest 3.01 installer here: https://s3.amazonaws.com/mset/download/release/toolbag_install_301.exe
Let us know if this fixes it. If not, we'll keep tinkering. Thanks for your help!
I tried installing the latest version(from your website) and still having the same problem.

3. Version 378.49
Thanks
In he past I've always installed new versions on top of each other (and still had Tb2 installed). Not sure if any of that could be related but I think I'll uninstall properly from now on just in case.
