Hi guys! I'm doing scene for school in maya+vray and Substance for textures . It's based on this cool artwork . Gonna post my wip here. I would love any comments:)
Beautiful, the only thing that bothers me is that it is a bit static compared to the concept; a little haze, motion blur on the vegetation to simulate movement and dof would improve it a lot, I think.
Agree with Ausonian, really great realisation but you've lost some of the mood. I'd like to see that blue undersight light glinting the metal arms a bit more as well
Great! Like these guys are saying, a bit more depth and atmosphere would look great. The texture on the circular section looks a little too yellow to me compared to the concept, a bit more colour variation might look nice. But this is just me being super picky.
Thank you guys for all your comments again! Really happy to hear all these good words!
Unfortunately I've got really overwhelmed in school right now. I have to put this project aside for a while. It's sad, but I'm definitely going to push it further later. And I still welcome any feedback, because I will have chance to implement it sooner or later.
Looking great, my critiques atm are that the gold segment of the mech is of a honey gold in the concept as yours is more of a lemon yellow. I reckon the honey gold would look better in the final version. Also to add on top of the gold segment, there's scraping and wear on the inside of the recessing areas but it's almost completely untouched on the outskirts of it which I don't find to make much sense, some wear along that bevel and some wear from the directions you believe most damage would come from is what I feel it's missing from the texturing at the moment or even a gradual blend from worn faded out paint from the top and grungy muddy towards the bottom, something that sells some story into what it's been through as right now the wear is quite generic.
This is awesome, I really like simon stalenhags work and would love to create a scene like this based off one of his concepts. The only improvement I can see are what most people have already commented, the mood of the final scene could be tweaked to match the concept more closely. The blue light coming from under the back of the mech for example really adds the effect that its alive and walking around. Great work!
