Hey guys.
I am working on a trophy on a wall kind of thing, which has a mane, like a lion, with thick fur in clusters.
I have been looking at the wiki and googled around to find some good examples, but I have either found very low poly examples, or examples not of the type I was looking for (mostly just hair for people).
Does anyone have any examples, tutorials or input on how to approach it? I have tried creating leaves and strands but not been able to get good results.
So yea, just picture of how this thick, layered mane could potentially be done, that would work with modern PBR rendering.
Thanks!

There is also something new with unreal engine that everyone is all the rave about that you might want to look into. I have yet to so i can't help with that other than pointing it out, best of luck.

Looks like a lot of hair cards are needed, they are really close to each other. Maybe not suitable for RT performance.
Still, shows that the long strands technique as used for long hair could do it maybe.
