Hello, I would like to ask You for some advice. How can I create some nice smooths/abrasion on my models ?

Here is some example from google: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f8/AK-47.png

We can see smooths/abrasion on metal in various places (not only on edges but in places that are touched a lot too) they are on wood too.

This image is not perfect, I found also that abrasion can be very smooth or more "grainy" like.

I tried various smart masks, generators and brushes with and without various blurs. I also tried with ddo and I tried manually painting them in Photoshop. But I am not pleased with any results and right now I am at my wit's end. Can anyone please give me some advice ? I will appreciate even slightes and smallest tips and trick how I can make some progress :P

Thanks and Cheers !

For this type of wear, get a big soft brush, and set the flow to pen pressure, and disable size. Just lightly paint on your mask, and build up the wear. By default, most of the brushes are set to size on pressure, and nothing for flow, which makes painting rubbing/polish type wear painful.
