Hey everyone, i have a model of a fork i made in blender and for some reason parts of the mesh are somhow broken and generate these weird surfaces that are not actual geometric faces, like in the photo

but when you look in wireframe it's all normal

only in edit mode there is this shadow like surface

if i try to subdivide it goes entirely crazy

and this is what happens to the mesh

what is causing this? how can it be fixed?
plz help

The answer here is ngons. You have too many faces with more that 4 vertices, and while blender can handle that, it handles it by taking the ngons and turning them into quads and triangles on the fly. What happened here is that it got confused. (common in ngons with concave parts) You can help it by not making your ngons concave. (Subdividing them)

I see, i figured it's somthing to do with the face having too many vertices, i did stumble upon a fix somehow in mesh>clean up>split concave faces.
    thanks for the help
