hey folks: so im having this issue where when i export a particular object from maya to mudbox the lighting looks strange in spots and i can't sculpt on the surface
https://www.dropbox.com/s/zu5p1vw5ch19n4s/rendererror.jpg?dl=0 so ive checked the UV's over, checked to make sure all the face normals are facing outward, and ive completely remade the object from scratch, and im having the same issue. to make sure it had to do with the object not something else, i exported an unchanged square from maya to mudbox, at first it appeared to have the same problem, then i subdivded and the problem went away, on the square. so i tried subdividing on the other object, this leather strap. it doesn't solve the problem. by accident i found out that the "relax" brush in mudbox fixes the graphical error, but i still can't sculpt on thew object. this is really holding me up, so if anyone knows what i can do please help

thank you for your interest in helping
the first image is how it appears in mudbox
the second is all angles with wireframe in maya
both 2017
ill try hardening edges then send it again
*update* tried that and it looks the same
it won't let me attach the .fbx
and to get the hard edgdes...
1. go in object mode
2. shift + rmb --> soft harde edges --> soften/harden
this will set hard edges based on a face angle...
im gonna try this today. thanks again
