[Modo 10.1] Subdividing (Dumbest Modo Question On The Internet)

How do you edit subdivision levels? I know you press D to subdivide. But the object's property>mesh tab should allow me to edit the number of subdivision levels. For some odd reason my specific version of Modo does not have that. This option DOES exist in the property>surfaces tab, but editing those numbers doesn't do anything. I know this is super basic, but all the tutorials tell me to look for the same non existent menu.

    d = apply 1 level of subdivision
    ctrl+d apply 1 level of subdivision with options
    tab = preview subdivision (default 2 levels, increased by + on numpad, or via properties > subdivision)
    shift+tab = preview Catmull-Clark subdivision (default 2 levels; influenced by # of subdivisions specified in properties under Catmull-Clark area)

    so either you were increasing subdiv count while previewing Catmull-Clark (or visa versa), or confused with d/ctrld vs. tab/shift+tab. You work with tab/shift tab rather than applying the subdivision in most cases.

    ctrl+D copies the mesh in this version of Modo. I also know that tab is only a preview. Pressing D works, but I'd like to be able to dynamicly change the number of subdivision levels.

    Ah right, I meant shift+d.

    The only way to dynamically change the number of applied-to-the-mesh subdivision is to use the subdivide modifier, which isn't available in 10.1. No idea why you'd want to do that instead of just pressing shift+tab though.

    Well crap. I guess it's not a big deal. I always use the actual subdivide so I can do things like create splines based on curved topology and check for gaps with the most 1 to 1 way I can.
