Quixel's 3DO will bake position maps up to 32k if you need something that large. You don't need a license to Quixel SUITE to use 3DO Baker either, so you can grab it from Quixel.se/suite if you'd like to try the baker out to see if it'll help you!
Thanks, unfortunately, Modo is quite expensive. Btw, if anyone uses fbx with Quixel, make sure you export the meshes as 2014/2015 fbx if they are higher Quixel seems to freak out.
Hi, is there any software that will bake an 8k position map, I know that the Allegorithmic software's bake position maps but only as high as 4k.
Hello Andrea,
We have added a new Mesh Position node in PixaFlux that allows you to bake 8k position maps. With this node you can bake the maps relative to the model bounding box, the scene bounding box, or a custom bounding box. Here is a video tutorial that shows how to use this new node:
For this new release we have also added a new UVMesh Normal Angle node that converts normal angles to monochromatic values, and a new Mesh Distance node, that bakes the distance from the texels to a entity defined in the attributes, and we have enhanced the UVMesh Render node.
Give it a try and let us know if you have any questions or suggestions!
