How to paint with smart materials?

Hey everyone! I am completely new to Substance Painter and I have no idea how to paint with Smart Materials? I can't just drag and drop my smart material into the Paint properties :( Or can I just make a fill layer with smart materials?

    Smart material is essentially a stack of multiple materials, you can't drag and drop it into "material" channel of a fill layer, or a layer.  You need to drag and drop the smart material in your layer stack, then if you want to paint / erase, you would do that by using masks.  Which is a much more convenient way of working in the long run, since it's non destructive.
