Maya 2017: OS Sierra: User interface is very laggy but 3D Space select/moving is not. Help!

Its only user interface. I can select everything in the viewport and slide it all around just fine and fast. Though the drop down menus, the buttons and mouse dragging with shift to make new objects is insanely laggy. I have no idea why. Its not my iMac specs for sure but I'll leave them below anyways.
iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015) (5120 x 2880)
Processor: 4 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory: 32 GB 1867 MHz DDR3
Graphics: AMD Radeon R9 M395X 4096 MB
Hard Drive: 3 TB Fusion Drive
I also want to add that if I scale my monitors resolution down to the lowest setting it gets a little faster. A LITTLE faster and its like 1600x900. Everything is just huge then. Is this a bug?
