zbrush - any way to make curves without having them snapping to surfaceS?

in zbrush r4.7 my imm brush always snaps/projects into geo in the world even when i turn off snap. any way to fix this? i just want to draw my imm using curves that dont snap into anything (or at most, just snap the first point to where i start drawing from.

if you guys know please let me know!

You can go to the Picker Palette and change the Orientation and / or Depth from "Cont" to "Once". That way your stroke (or curve, in this case) wont continuously update as it moves across the mesh.
