Hello everyone,
New to the forum and extremely new to 3D modeling but excited to be here learning more information than I can possibly retain right now. I'm planing a project modeling 3x3" tiles with one surface having a complex rock face and other side being smooth. What I would like to be able to do is 3D light scan in a rock (Pukani) of choice and have the surface of rock modeled onto a flat surface (Like a topographic map) that can then be cropped, stretched and positioned on the tiles. If this is even possible, I'm sure there is some terminology I could be using to describe this better but it's outside my knowledge
Thanks for the assistance, Rob

Welcome to the wonderful world of 3d, Rob.
When posing specific questions like this you should include the software you have at your disposal.
There are many ways to do what you're asking, and is dependent on your software.
Oh, it can certainly be done alright.
Once you get the rock scanned, post the results and people will definitely be able to advise you from there. Good luck.
