Higuys my name is ahmet bluhm and i am studying in SAE Institute as 3D Artist & Animation. I want to make for my study a Softwood forest scene. Some Textures will be from photogrammetry like the Bark texture and the ground textures. The other things like foliage will be make by me in 3ds max and in photoshop. Its my first big project and i am really hyped to do this. I did a fast blockout in Unreal engine 4 and have some reference pictures. I am posting every three to four days and i hope you can give me some tips. I want to learn here photogrammetry and how to create foliage for a forest scene. I hope I did not forget anything
First i create the pine trees because is the biggest assets on my scene.
I did the first tree and i think i messed up on the size of the tree. And i need some variations. The texture is just a placeholder. I think i need to fix it more. here some screens:
sry guys i didnt post because i had too much work and now i am going post more here some screenshots from my project it is still wip and working on some new foliage and a hero asset
More screens can be found here : https://www.artstation.com/artwork/EJ654 I am posting all 3 Days with Updates on my lighting in Unreal and new Assets. I am gona open a second thread for my new scene too and i want to show some progress. sry for my english
Working on the new lighting too. The new foliage is in the engine. My problem now is that my static meshes are darker then the painted foliage. In the front of the image you see the dark ones trees and they are darker than the other tree's.
Getting the work now done. I did many assets for my scene now and in the next update i am gonna change the lighting and adding some nice mushrooms. I post my assets when I'm done with my breakdown
Vary scaling and rotation a bit more. Maybe have some blueprints setup to spawn/not spawn certain branches? Very uniform for the trees. Can also break up the leaf(needle?) planes with a handful more polys, they look rather flat and lifeless from this distance. Not too mention the needles look very thick.
Gonna make more changes in rotation and scale. I dont have a Blueptint for spawn certain branches but i think i have something in my mind. I can change the alpha from my tree and make the needles not too thick. I created the tree from scratch and it will be pretty hard again to change the planes i hope it will be better with the thickness from my alpha map. Thanks @FreneticPonies
Changed many things. Finally finished my environment I am pretty happy about the result. Thanks to Dinusty Discord and his Community https://www.artstation.com/artwork/aqwNJ
