Hi guys, Do we need to set BRDF to GGX in every material (metallic and non-metallic)? I've heard that GGX is the most natural shader. I'm using V-Ray 3.4
It's fairly "natural" and the best option widely implemented right now. More or less accurate depending on certain materials and some of the fine details in how you implement it but that's out of your control with vray. It does have its shortcomings though, and will definitely evolve soon. And later on to something more like SGGX (I'll give that 5 years).
You wouldnt want to use it for hair or cloth though without substantial modification that is probably outside what you can edit in vray.
