Just stumbled across this thread after being away from Polycount for a while. Say the concept art for the a scene I worked on earlier in the year. Went with a different style but here it is. Not part of the challenge just thought it was neat this challenge was something I found interesting before.
Ok, i'm calling this one done....Could add a thing or two but, i think i have enough of this scene, as fun as it was to work on it. Congrats to all the rest of you, it's been really fun to work for this chalange! Ngowan, Yeah, it was a problem but, i do hope end result was ok-ish.... Also, i'm not sure how these things go but, would it be possible to replace frontpage picture with this one, since this one actual final result? Or is ok if it's WIP picture there? Just asking since i'm a little late with this final result, and just pointing out that wasn't final image. Cheers, Zocky
Those are just particle effects....just couple of billboards with additive texture.
These are pretty ugley if you look at them like this, but kinda didn't have time anymore to really make them better, but eh, they do their job i guess.
So....yeah, for the upper texture, i made paticle effect with billboards with that texture, and made them additive, so it stacked with other effects (i had another cloud particle or well, "fog" particle", around, so this was added to the fog one, so some were brighter, some a bit less so.
And for the lower texture, for that one, i just made Spiral flat mesh going around the tower, and mapped this texture to it, and also made it additive. You can see wireframe on my artstation page, maybe that helps you? https://www.artstation.com/artwork/OdYrg
Okay guys and gals, Here is my Final. I could not finish but I did have a lot of fun in the challenge. You all put out some awesome work and I am inspired by you all. Happy New Years!!! Thanks for the learning experience.

The LP 6853 Tris 4136 Faces
I spent half of the month troubleshooting but will keep learning on how to bake those normals. As you can see the LP has some weird vertex shading. Will figure it out. Other than these issues these problems have helped me learn a ton. Appreciate this challenge. Thank you.
Hey guys here is my submission for the challenge, I still need to tweak the likeness and texture it. I used split UV islands to bake down the normal maps, but the issue is that it makes it a nightmare to paint over in PS, even the curvature map was giving noticleable seams. The roof was made with 8 different tile meshes which were then deformed in max
I want to show my work here as well. I am new to polycount as a registered member, but have been reading here for a while now. I only found out about these contests at the end of november, so I did not manage to finish up my model. Still, I want to show my progress so far. I will continue to bring in detail in the next year. All the detail and some larger parts are missing. I already triangulated the model for usage inside an engine. I use Unity and Unreal so my final result will be placed inside the engine and Textures will follow as well.
I think I will take on the upcoming challenges, as they give me some pressure to do something like this in my free time. The results shown so far really look cool and give me motivation to try achieving something similiar.
I know I'm a gazillion years late and I hope its okay for me to show my result anyway! My comp broke down half-way through the challenge lol. Pretty pleased with the outcome!
Old news 2 months later. But happy to say I finished. It took me a while, but I have to say this challenge was the one that really got me started in pursuing and finishing my goals as I learned so much of what to do and what not to do. I stuck it out. Thank you for this challenge, here is my ExSteel Gun. model
