"Add selected to Graph" not working

Hey All,
I'm having an issue here with adding my selected nodes to the hypershade for my rig. I had them all selected and tried adding them to the graph after clicking on "Add Selected to Graph" and nothing happens... does it have something to do with what I have selected? I also tried middle mouse click and drag and did not work as well.

via the right click menu in the hypershade work area. I'm not sure what you're doing exactly, rig work would probably go smoother in the node editor; the hypershade filter is set by default to work with shader objects and similar nodes.
I'm sure your right, but I'm following a tutorial off of pluralsight, but i'll try anything else if it helps.
